Dr. Alvarez-Cruz

Dr. Alvarez-Cruz is fluent in English and Spanish. 

She was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador

She obtained her diploma of Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston; and completed two additional training programs in Geriatric Medicine and Wound Care/HBO at Baylor College of Medicine.

She is Board Certified dually in Family Medicine and Geriatrics.

The initial focus of her career was as a hospitalist, covering for more than 10 years  Acute Care hospitals and Long Term Care facilities, helping patients transition safely home; now, her main focus is clinical Primary Care and she ensures she is the Primary Care doctor if her patients are admitted to a hospitals, which promotes the most efficient and effective medical care.

Another area of expertise that Dr. Alvarez is passionate about is Wound Care Medicine. Her extensive experience working as a medical staff of the largest wound care centers in Houston (Memorial Medical Center, Greater Heights Memorial, Select West, the Methodist Hospital, etc.). has allowed her to be considered a proficient wound care expert. Her goal is to heal and alleviate all forms of ulcers and wounds (diabetic ulcers, surgical lacerations, and others) and is determined to avoid unnecessary amputations.

As a Geriatrician, she compassionately helps patients with amnesia, frailty, osteoporosis etc.; she also specializes in care for the terminally ill (including Palliative and Hospice care).
